Humans have been, through the passing of time, quite creative and innovative beings. Chemistry, biology or medicine are some of the examples that show the power of the technology we have created to help our society to grow and develop itself. However, technology is taking a lot of time in our lives, that is a matter that can be either very useful or very problematic. I will explain the reason why.

Technology has been one of the most productive aspects of our lives. Since the discovery of fire and the use of lithics our technological development has grown exponentially to the present day, and has been taking part of our daily lives to be really helpful. Calculators, computers, phones, cars or even pencils are things that we could hardly live without in our current society.

Nevertheless, the amount of time we dedicate to technology and the way we use it has turned into a real problem during the last decade, especially with the increase of the use of smartphones, for example. An invent that was created to help us to do more than just call another person but to do almost anything in one simple, comfortable and aesthetic device, has turned into a weapon to isolate ourselves, reduce our socialization capacity, and even allow government agencies to record our lives.

Technology today has affected the world more than we usually think and for worse, through the years. I am not talking just about cellphones and isolation or vehicles and jams, I am refering to the overexploitation of our resources and the destruction of our planet, the massive deaths provocated by genocides and tyrants. Even with the incredible advances we have accomplished to make our lives better and last longer, its defects are harder to ignore.

Technology is one of the best and worst creations of humanity, it has allowed us to inhabit the most hostile habitats, to cure diseases and to make our lives more comfortable, however it also has permitted us to destroy nature, kill entire peoples and to degrade human nature. Is technology worth to be present constantly in our lives? What is the future of our technological society?
